Mexican President Felipe Calderon criticized the planned U.S. border fence designed to stem illegal immigration, saying countries should be "building bridges, not fences" in an interview broadcast on Monday.

Mr. Calderon, the bridges are there. The problem is that you encourage people to sneak across through tunnels and dangerous terrain in darkness of night rather than using them. Quit using metaphors and start using the bridges.
